Chicken and Cranberry Treats are homemade, nutritious treats for your beloved cat. Made with wholesome ingredients like rolled oats, cooked chicken, dried cranberries, and a hint of dried catnip, these treats are packed with flavor and goodness. The oats provide a healthy source of fiber, while the chicken offers a protein boost. The dried cranberries add a touch of sweetness and antioxidants, and the catnip adds an enticing aroma that cats love. With simple steps of blending, shaping, and baking, you can create these tasty treats that your cat will adore. Serve them as occasional snacks and enjoy the satisfaction of providing your feline companion with a wholesome and delightful treat.

Ingredients

  1. 1 heaping cup rolled oats
  2. 3 tbsp unsweetened, dried cranberries
  3. 120 grams cooked, unseasoned chicken, chopped small
  4. 32 ml olive oil
  5. 1 heaping tablespoon dried catnip
  6. 1 large egg

Directions

  1. Place the Organic Rolled Oats in a food processor and blend until they turn into a fine flour-like consistency.
  2. Add Foodsterr Organic Dried Cranberries to the oat flour mixture in the food processor and blend again until the cranberries are finely ground.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to the food processor and pulse until everything is well combined. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). While waiting for the oven to preheat, line two baking trays with parchment paper.
  5. Scoop out ¼ teaspoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them into small balls.
  6. Press the balls gently with your finger to flatten them against the parchment paper on the baking trays.
  7. Place the baking trays in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the treats turn golden and become dry on top.
  8. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your cat.
  9. These delicious treats can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
  10. Enjoy witnessing your cat savor these homemade and nutritious treats!

Notes

Ensure that the rolled oats are finely ground to create a smooth texture in the treats.
Use unsweetened, dried cranberries to avoid any added sugars that may be harmful to cats.
Use cooked, unseasoned chicken that is finely chopped. Avoid using any seasoning or spices that could be harmful to cats.
Make sure the dried catnip is of good quality and free from any additives or pesticides.
When shaping the mixture into small balls, you can use a measuring spoon or your hands to ensure consistent portion sizes.
Flatten the balls gently with your finger or the back of a spoon to create a flat shape that is suitable for your cat to bite into.
Keep an eye on the treats while they are baking to prevent overcooking. They should turn golden and dry on top without burning.
Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your cat to avoid any burns or discomfort.
Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain their freshness and quality.
Remember that these treats are meant to be given as occasional snacks and should not replace your cat's regular balanced diet.
